Privacy for CouchCast
CouchCast Privacy Policy
Last updated October 15, 2026. This policy describes how the CouchCast Mac app and website handle information.
The Mac app: no analytics or tracking
The CouchCast app does not automatically collect or transmit personal information. It does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking, and it does not require a CouchCast account. Information you choose to send to support is handled as described below.
Website analytics
The website uses cookie-free analytics to understand page visits, referral sources, and general browser, device, language, and location statistics. This is separate from the Mac app, which does not collect usage analytics.
Local media and network access
The video and subtitle files you choose remain on your Mac. CouchCast uses your local network to discover supported Chromecast devices and show their names in the app. Discovery information is not transmitted automatically. If you choose to send a diagnostics report to support, it can include the selected Chromecast’s name. When you cast, CouchCast delivers the prepared media over your local network to the selected Chromecast. CouchCast does not upload your media to CouchCast servers.
Files and settings
CouchCast reads media and subtitle files only to provide features you initiate. App preferences are stored locally on your Mac.
Diagnostics and support
Diagnostics generated by CouchCast remain on your Mac and are not transmitted automatically. If you contact support, CouchCast receives the email address, message, and diagnostic information you choose to send and uses them only to respond to your request and maintain the related support record. Support messages and attachments are retained only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or to meet legal obligations. You can request deletion of your support information by emailing [email protected]. Do not attach private media files.
Data sharing
CouchCast does not share data from the app with third parties.
Purchases
CouchCast does not receive your payment-card details. Apple processes Mac App Store purchases, while Dodo Payments processes direct-download purchases. Each provider handles transaction information under its own privacy terms.
